AIT Launches Cyber Security Initiative | My Best Web Hosting

Fayetteville, NC (PRWEB) July 25, 2012

In this digital age, system intrusions are common. CNET recently released two news articles detailing security breaches at both Yahoo and Formspring. Formspring s CEO responded to the breach immediately by locking down their systems while they determined the cause of the breach. There are a lot of lessons to be learned on security from these issues, both for companies and users in keeping their data secure. All small businesses that have websites need to start asking questions about their sites security now before its too late.

Advanced Internet Technologies, Inc. (AIT) a web hosting and domain registration company based out of Fayetteville, NC, is taking security seriously. For the past 16 years, their former-military personnel have spent thousands of hours and millions of dollars on security appliances, devices, software, and systems, both for physical and electronic security. When asked about how the companys security policies and procedures help their customers, AITs CIO, Ghana Dhungana responded, Many customers believe that security is only our responsibility. Thats not correct. While we take the security of our Data Center and our infrastructure seriously, with more and more applications becoming available for people to manage their website, or any features of their websites, security must be taken seriously by our customers as well.

Is it this principle that has led us to launch a new Cyber Security Initiative to educate our customers on what they can do to help keep their data secure. We are launching a series of blog posts, informative newsletters, and offering discounts on security scans leading up to a Security Webinar in October for Cyber Security Month. These initiatives will help educate our customers on properly securing their servers and data, both online and offline, says Marketing Manger Roberto Blake.

When asked about how customers can best secure their site themselves, CIO Dhungana responded, There are many things that have to be done to secure a website, but doing simple things will always make it safer. Things like ensuring your passwords are strong and not simple, ensuring your applications are patched and up-to-date and in some cases, doing PCI compliance scans. These are the minimum security measures that should be done for businesses that operate websites, especially ones that are intended to do ecommerce.

From simply securing a WordPress installation, to helping customers select passwords that are easy to remember but hard to crack, and offering continuous and thorough security scans, AIT provides its customers with tools, both free and paid, to help secure their online presence.
